Fresh off its “Best of Fest” win at the DC Independent Film Festival in February 2025, Diminished Returns is a powerful and timely documentary that explores the roots of the Black wealth gap in our nation’s capital. Through compelling interviews, archival footage, and grounded storytelling, the film examines the structural forces—enslavement, redlining, displacement, and disinvestment—that have denied Black Washingtonians economic opportunity for generations. Following the screening, Temi F. Bennett and Tonia Wellons will join a conversation moderated by Kerry-Ann Hamilton, CEO of Storytelling for Good.
